House tips

None of this is essential. All of it makes the week better.

Outside

Give the grill 15-20 minutes

The infrared grill under the house needs 15-20 minutes to come up to heat. Light it before you start prepping.

Watch storms from the top deck

When thunderstorms build to the north along the I-10 corridor, check out the top deck overlooking the nature preserve. The lightning puts on a dazzling show, particularly at night.

Gulf view from the master deck

This is the best deck to start the day with coffee and music, and to close it out at sunset with a cocktail.

Inside

Nudge the thermostat down at bedtime

If you like sleeping in colder temps, crank the thermostat a few degrees cooler at bedtime. The thermostat is on the main floor, so it's a few degrees warmer next floor up since heat rises.

Turn the ice maker on when you arrive

Flip the ice maker on as soon as you get in so it's cranking cubes by happy hour. The cleaning service sometimes switches it off when guests check out.

TV package and streaming apps

We have a pretty stacked TV package with DIRECTV, and most streaming apps are pre-installed if you prefer to log in to your own streaming service. Recommend setting a reminder on your phone to log out before leaving.

Wi-Fi code

The Wi-Fi code is posted on a frame in the house.

Coming and going

Use the gate exit when you walk out

Please use the car entrance gate to walk out to the beach. There is a keypad mounted on the last house on the right and a sign, the exit code is 2020-Enter.

You may not need a car

Fly into Gulf Shores Airport, take a taxi to the cottage, and walk to the beach, the bars, and the store all week. Two parking spots are here if you do drive.

Check-in and check-out

Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM. If you land early, the beach is just over 100 yards away — start there.
